Brendan Shanahan entered the NHL as the second player selected in the first round of the 1987 NHL Draft. Expectations for Shanahan were high after a stellar career with the London Knights of the OHL.

With titles in the Olympics, World Championship, and Stanley Cup, Shanahan is a member of the elite Triple Gold Club and one of only five to be a member of the unofficial “Quad Gold Club,” adding a Canada Cup/World Cup of Hockey title to the other three. He was also named to the Second NHL All-Start team during his Olympic season with Team Canada. His number 19 has been retired by his junior team, the London Knights.

Shanahan has played for Detroit Red Wings, Hartford Whalers, St. Louis Blues, and the New Jersey Devils. His second season with the Blues led him to the NHL All-Star Game, and was named to the NHL First Team at the end of the year.

In addition to his hockey prowess, Shanahan has also won the King Clancy Memorial Trophy for his humanitarian efforts.
