Back in high school, Drury was a four year letterman on the hockey team of Fairfield Prep. He also led the team to a state championship. Playing four years at Boston University, a Chris Drury appearance led the team to a national championship in the 1994 to 1995 season. He is considered one of the best players of BU, being the first to reach 100 career goals and assists. Drury was also named the top defensive forward in Hockey East in the 1997 to 1998 season. His college career was decorated with honors including Second All-Star Team, East Second All-American Team, two-time Player of the Year, and two-time East First All-American Team.
The first Chris Drury appearance in the NHL was with the Colorado Avalanche in the 1998 to 1999 season, in which he won the Calder Memorial Trophy and was named to the All-Rookie Team. A Chris Drury appearance with the Avalanche helped the team win the 2001 Stanley Cup championship.
Drury also had a stint in Little League Baseball, where he was the Championship Game’s winning pitcher and team MVP at the 1989 Little League World Series.
