Only three American-born hockey players have scored 500 goals in the NHL, and one of them is Jeremy Roenick. A native of Boston, Roenick made his National Hockey League debut in 1988 when he was just 18 years old and he quickly became a superstar for the Chicago Blackhawks. By the early 1990s, he was a consistent 50-goal scorer and one of the NHL’s most popular players, especially since he wasn’t afraid to rough it up a little on the ice like most other goal scorers. His 20-year NHL career also includes time with the Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks. Ironically, his historic 500th goal game against the Coyotes, a team he played with for seven seasons. Roenick is sure to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame when he becomes eligible. He lives with his wife, Tracy, an accomplished equestrian rider, and two children in California.
