Prior to his AHL career with the Edmonton Oilers in 1992, there was a Kirk Maltby appearance with the Owen Sound Platers in the OHL. The first Kirk Maltby appearance in the NHL was in 1993. Maltby played in the AHL for two more seasons before pursuing his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings during the 1995 to 1996 NHL season.
