Bobby, the younger of the two brothers, has already won more than 20 NEXTEL Cup races and he took the 2000 Winston Cup Championship. Terry, who is eight years older, also won Winston Cup titles in 1984 and 1996 making the Labontes the only brothers to accomplish that feat. Now that Terry has retired, Bobby Labonte will try to eclipse some of his brother’s statistics. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Bobby got his start racing go-karts and midget cars before moving on to race in the Busch Series, where he won the 1991 series championship. Then it was on to the Winston Cup (now NEXTEL Cup), and he’s been a consistent force ever since. He notched his first victory in the 1995 Coca-Cola 600 and he had his breakout year in 2000 winning races at Darlington, Charlotte and Pocono. Bobby Labonte currently drives the #43 Cheerios car for Petty Enterprises in the NEXTEL Cup and the #77 Dollar General car in the Busch Series.
