Kasey Kahne began his racing career when he was racing open wheel sprint cars at Deming Speedway. He then began racing at USAC and during his first year he was named Rookie of the Year. He made 20 starts in Busch Series driving and won his first race at the Ford 300.

At the end of 2003, Kahne began his Nextel Cup career after he replaced Bill Elliot. During his sophomore season, Kasey won his first Nextel Cup race at the Chevy American Revolution 400, that year he also won the O’Reilly 300 and United Way 300.

2006 turned out to be a breakout year for Kasey Kahne; he started out winning the Golden Corral 500 followed by the Samsung/RadioShack 500 and 4 races after that. He also had a season sweep in the Coca Cola 600 and Bank of America 500. His first win of 2007 came at Busch Series Carquest Auto Parts 300.
