Chryste Gaines competed for the US in the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, Georiga, where she won the gold medal in the 4x100 meter relay. She won two gold medals in the World Championships – one in Gothenburg in 1995 and the other in Athens in 1997. However, she placed second in the 2003 World Championships in Paris.
