Title: Olympic Gold Medal Winner, Track and FieldBorn in Jamaica, Donovan Bailey moved to Canada as a teenager and eventually became one of the country’s most decorated athletes. Bailey got off to a bit of a late start in his track and field career, but that didn’t stop him from becoming a two-time gold medal winner. In the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Bailey won the 100 meters in a world record time of 9.84 seconds and then took another gold in the 4 x 100 relay for Team Canada. Following his Olympic glory, Bailey took on American Michael Johnson in a 150-meter match race at the SkyDome in Toronto to determine who really was the “World’s Fastest Man.” Bailey won the race easily when Johnson pulled up with an injury, but it was clear even before the injury that Bailey was going to win. Bailey retired in 2001 and now runs DBX Sport Management, a company that promotes amateur athletes.
