Ross Powers holds the distinction of being the first American to win a medal for the halfpipe competition in the Olympic Games. Snowboarding runs deep in the Vermont native’s veins. By age 9, he was competing at the national level and was recognized as a prodigy. Before he turned 20, he had won a bronze medal in the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano. Powers continued to pick up national and world medals and titles until achieving the ultimate dream at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. There Powers took home the gold medal and led the U.S. team to a sweep of the three medals. Through snowboarding, Powers has been fortunate enough to travel the world, but also enjoys spending time at home in Vermont with his family. He also participates in surfing, wakeboarding, motocross and skateboarding in his spare time.
