A senior writer for SI.com, Stewart Mandel focuses on college football and writes the “College Football Mailbag” column, which contains various individual features and a College Football Blog. Additionally, Mandel also writes about men’s college basketball for SI.com. Among his other columns and features are Three-Point Stance, Power Rankings, and NCAA tournament Bubble Watch. He started working for SI.com in 1999, and previously worked for ESPN the Magazine, ABC Sports Online, and The Cincinnati Enquirer.
Mandel has covered nine BCS championship games and five Final Fours. He is also an AP voter in the NCAA Football AP poll. In 2007, Stewart released his first book entitled “Bowls, Polls, and Tattered Souls: Tackling the Chaos and Controversy that Reign Over College Football”.
His numerous awards include first place in enterprise category and second place in game story in the 2008 Football Writers Association of America’s annual writing contest. Mandel won the contest back in 2005 in the columns category.
