Jimmy Connors was the number one professional tennis player in the world for 160 consecutive weeks. He won eight Grand Slam titles, two Grand Slam doubles titles and is considered to be one of the all time greatest male tennis players. His competitive spirit and desire to make the fans a part of the game made him a very popular, well-known player.

Connors’ most famous skill was his powerful flat, double-handed backhand. In 1974 he won Wimbledon, The U.S. Open and the Australian Open. If he had also played and won the French Open he could have become the first male player since Rod Laver to win all four Grand Slam titles in one year. Connors had a 26 year career as a professional tennis player. He is currently the coach of tennis star, Andy Roddick.
