Onsite Insight: Miami Sports in the Spot Light

The weather in Miami is as good as it gets in the United States during January. So when snow and ice hit the North, an incentive trip to tropical city is just the thing to take the nip out of winter’s bite, and bring some heat to sports’ fans hearts.

In Miami, there’s always plenty of golfing and outdoor activities for your incentive participants. You always have the opportunity to set up excursions such as boating, fishing and beach parties. Miami also offers travelers plenty of flight options with two large-scale airports int he area to choose from. And the abundance of quality hotels to select from insures that all travelers have terrific accommodations.

Fans Come Alive in South Beach

Miami is an incredible city for hosting a major sporting event. In fact, in 100 Sporting Events You Must See Live, I list Miami as the number one city in America for taking in a major event. Most recently, Miami hosted the latest BCS championship game, and the event was even more off the charts then normal. And the reasons for this sports-fanatic explosion were quite simple: South Beach, South Beach and South Beach.

While there are many things to do in Miami, South Beach is where all the action takes place. Don’t get me wrong: There are plenty of other hot spots than just South Beach; the entire city of Miami and its surrounding areas provide a great destination attraction in itself for any incentive trip. But what South Beach provides is a central fan hub where locals and travelers alike can congregate and interact. Many other cities are too spread out for this type of large-scale mingling and, unfortunately, lead to a lack of energy surrounding sporting experiences.

What’s Next?

Miami has a ton of great events coming up in the next couple of years, including the Super Bowl in 2010. Recently, the NFL announced that in addition to the Super Bowl, Miami will play host a week earlier to the NFL Pro Bowl. It’s a unique opportunity to see two major events in one city like never before: The Pro Bowl has been played in Hawaii for the past three decades. Moving it to Miami during the week prior to the Super Bowl is a brilliant move for the NFL. To have both events in Miami is a sports fans dream; a week of football and fun that no other city but Miami would be able to handle.
